"Kaizen"... What does it mean?

"Kaizen" is a poetic Japanese word with many English translations. At its simplest, it means "continuous improvement". "Kai" means "ongoing", "continuous", and "ocean", while "Zen" translates as "wisdom", "good", and "improvement".

Robert Maurer, Phd., the leading expert in applying the principles of Kaizen to personal development and the author of "One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way" defines Kaizen as

"small incremental steps in a spirit of continuous improvement".

We at KAIZEN Wellness have recognized, through our more than 30 years of experience working with thousands of clients, that the most consistently reliable success strategy for making sustainable lifestyle change is to take a long series of micro-steps.

These micro-steps are co-designed with you to be virtually fail-proof. Building upon each small success naturally builds your enthusiasm, confidence and positive momentum. There is certain magic that occurs when we finally stop punishing ourselves and begin a more positive relationship with our body and our spirit.

Shifting from the familiar launch into heroic (and often punishing) regimes into a slower, kinder, more gentle approach is obviously more pleasurable and fun. Surprising to most, it is also proven to be much more effective - naturally igniting breakthrough client results. This powerful secret of those enviable 'vitality leaders' supports the creation of lifestyles of health, happiness, and sustainability.

At KAIZEN Wellness, our own working definition of "Kaizen" is

"Great success achieved by continuous, positive change".
